Female of common birdwing (Troides sp.) butterfly laying eggs on the leaf of Aristolochia tagala (Indian Birthwort). Common birdwing is one of the largest butterflies in Borneo.

Close-up. This species could be Troides helena ??? There are a few species of common birdwing in Borneo. The wingspan is around 15cm !!!!

 

 

 

 

 

This one will be the preserved specimen.

 

 

 

 

Great Mormon butterfly (male). The scientific name is Papilio memnon. This is another giant butterfly of Borneo. Wingspan also around 15cm.

Spotted black crow butterfly. (Euploea sp.)

 

 

 

 

Red harlequin butterfly (Paralaxita sp.) - one of the most beautiful butterflies in Borneo. However, this species is very small & only found in shady place inside the forest.

 

 

 

 

A damselfly resting on a small ground herb. (flower only, no leaf)

 

 

 

 

Pitcher plant. Nepenthes ampullaria is found abundantly under the shade of Kerangas forest of Sininbong area.

 

 

 

 

 

Another species of pitcher plant, Nepenthes gracilis. The pitcher is much smaller than Nepenthes ampullaria.

 

 

 

 

 

Lastly, I want to introduce my wild fighting fish Betta edithae from my fish tank. This one is a male caught by me , last year in a river near Pontianak of Kalimantan Barat, Indonesian Borneo.
