Pitcher plants of Mount Serapi
Below 2000 feet, Nepenthes gracilis and Nepenthes ampullaria are growing abundantly along the road to the summit. Nepenthes rafflesiana and Nepenthes mirabilis are spotted in the kerangas forest in the nearby area. All these 4 species are very common in lowland area.
In this trip, I found 4 others species in the lower montane & a habitat looks like mossy forest above 2500 feet. They are N. albomarginata, N. hirsuta, N. reinwardtiana and N. tentaculata. A single plant of N. mirabilis is spotted at a location above 2500 feet.
My very first time to see this beautiful wild N. albomarginata !!!

N. albomarginata has a white band near the mouth of pitcher.

The picture of the plant & its pitchers.

Nepenthes ampullaria - very common species. Mostly found in the shady place of Kerangas forest.

N. gracilis.

N. hirsuta found in lower montane forest.

Lower pitcher of Nepenthes hirsuta.

Nepenthes hirsuta - the pitcher is still unmature.

Nepenthes mirabilis - my first time found this species at a spot above 2500 feet.

Nepenthes reinwardtiana - this pitcher is almost rotten.

Nepenthes tentaculata - this species is common in mountain area.

Nepenthes tentaculata - it usually found growing together with a species of moss. (Sphagnum sp.)

Close-up picture of the mouth of the pitcher. It looks like the cocoons of a species of insect clinging on the inner wall of the pitcher!! Amazing!!! According to a hobbysit, it is the scale insect. (order: Hemptera; superfamily: Coccoidea), not the cocoon of the moth.

Upper pitcher of Nepenthes tentaculata.

Take note that the upper lid is covered by hairs.

The lower montane forest.
