SAMUNSAM WILDLIFE SANCTUARY & GUNUNG PUEH FOREST RESERVE

This wildlife sanctuary located at the most western part of Sarawak. It was gazetted in 1979 and the area covers 61 sq km. Most of the area is covered by Kerangas forest except the riverine forest growing near the Samunsam river.

From the hill, we can see the Big Talang-talang island (left) and small Talang-talang island (right).

Big Talang-talang island is the protection area as the sea turtle will come to the beach lay eggs annually.

Pitcher plant found abundantly in Kerangas forest here. Below is Nepenthus rafflesiana.
