REVISIT THE SECRET GARDEN OF PADAWAN
Text and photos by Michael Lo
Jan. 9th, 2004 - After a week of planning, my friends and I decided to re-visit the secret garden of Padawan. This time we're hiking to the upper part of Sungai Embahn, one of the tributaries of Sungai Sarawak. There were 6 of us ( Andrew, Hong Dak , Ivy, Mimik, Izam and myself, Michael ) joining this hiking trip to the upper part of Sungai Embahn.
It was a misty Sunday morning. We started our journey around 9am and reached the destination at about 11.30am. There are 4 villages in this area. They are Sait, Bojong, Ri-joice and Seremban. The first village is Sait which is 2 hours walking distance from the Padawan road. The last one is Seremban which is about 4 or 5 hours walking distance from the Padawan road. There are no tar road to connect with all these 4 villages, so we have to hike on the muddy trail to our destination, Sait.

There are too many rapids!

After the heavy downpour few days ago, the water level is much higher than the day we came to paddle our kayaks in this river about few weeks ago.

The rocks and the rapid.

Wow.....look at this rapid! It must be pretty exciting to paddle the kayak over here!

Class 3 of rapid??

Everyone is so excited to see the rapids. We are standing at the edge of the cliff near the river.
