MANGROVE FORESTS
Mangrove forests can be found in a lot of countries. They are growing abundantly in coastal area. The forests provide the shelter for different species of aquatic fauna, act as a buffer zone against the waves and act as a tertiary waste treatment systems. In Borneo, it is the natural habitat for proboscis monkey which is an endemic species to Borneo Island.
Mangrove forests of Bako National Park:

During the low tide, the tree roots are exposed.

Another species of tree in Mangrove forests. The stilt roots provide the support to the trees on the unstable substrates.

During the high tide:

The forests is a natural shelter for different species of fauna.

Saltwater crocodile can be found in this kind of brackish water river, so beware of croc. when exploring the mangrove forests.
