FRESHWATER SWAMP FOREST

The freshwater swamp forest does not contain a substantial amount of peat. The forest is periodically flooded and it is more productive forest compared to the peat swamp forest. A lot of freshwater swamp forests in Borneo already been cleared by the native people to become a paddy field.

palm vegetation & spiny pandan are very common plants in freshwater swamp forest.

most of the freshwater swamps got acidic water due to the decomposition of the dead leaves and tree branches.
