LAMBIR HILLS NATIONAL PARK
Lambir Hills National Park is located in the sourthern part of Miri town. There are two types of forest over there: kerangas or health forest and the lowland dipterocarp forest. In 1992, the researchers from Forest Department of Sarawak ,USA and Japan found out that in just 52 ha, about 1,200 species of tree were recorded !!! Compared to Amazonian forest at Yasuni in Ecuador, only 1,100 species of tree were recorded there. This great discovery is truly amazing !! Probably, this National Park has more tree species than any other part of the world !!!
