A KERANGAS FOREST NEAR KUCHING

Kerangas forest also known as health forest. The soils are mostly nutrient poor and acidic. Mostly, the substrates are white sand. In the earlier geographical times, these white sands were once formed the beaches in western Borneo. (when the sea stretched far inland from the coastline of the present time)

Below : my cousin, Methos is collecting fish in a blackwater river of Kerangas forest. The trees with orange trunk is a Selunsor (Tristaniopsis sp.), the bark peels off in long scroll-like pieces. "Selunsor" is a local name means "to slip down" .
