The giant bud of Rafflesia tuan-mudae. There is a green tag attached on a small plant near the bud. The size is almost as big as a football. Rafflesia is the largest flower on earth. It is a parasitic plant which only consists of a single flower and it does not has the leaf, stem or roots. In order to survive, it has microscopic threads growing inside the host vine (genus name = Tetrastigma) and absorb the nutrients of the host. There are 9 species of Rafflesia found in the jungle of Borneo. They are : R. arnoldii, R. borneensis, R. ciliata, R. hasseltii, R. keithii, R. pricei, R. tengku-adlinii, R. tuan-mudae and R. witkampii.
