EXPLORING PEAT SWAMP OF BETONG AREA (page 2)

 

Biotope B:  In this location, we found a beautiful blackwater pond. It is a bathing and washing place for the villagers. Again, Crypt. longicauda and Barclaya motleyi are found in the pond. Barclaya motleyi is a dominant species. The goby fish (Glossogobius sp.) is abundantly here.

 

Biotope B - Take note the hair grass is growing on the river bank.

The Iban women. Iban is the majority race in Sarawak. Betta ibanorum is the common fighting fish which is named after them.

Sago tree - Metroxylon sago (a species of palm) is growing abundantly here.

 

A blackwater stream. Barclaya motleyi & Crypt. longicauda also found here. Striped barb (probably Puntius johorensis) is spotted here as well.
