EXPLORING PEAT SWAMP OF BETONG AREA
Date : March 13th, 2005
It was another beautiful Sunday. I invited 3 of my friends to explore the peat swamp of Betong area. They are Mee Kiong, Isa and Ivy. Mee Kiong & Isa are flora experts. Ivy is a wild plant collector. (hobbyist)
I love Sunday morning! This photo is taken at Serian.

Biotope A

Our first destination is a peat swamp located in the northern part of Betong. (see Biotope A) Isa spotted Cryptocoryne longicauda in that peat swamp forest. Besides that, Barclaya motleyi also found there. I caught Betta ibanorum, leaf fish (Nandus nebulosus), goby (Glossogobius sp.) and halfbeak. (Hemirhamphodon sp.) The funny thing is .....there is no rasbora found in the blackwater there! Glossogobius sp. is found abundantly there.
A species of Blyxa. The leaf is shorter and it's red colored.

The flower of Blyxa sp.

Barclaya motleyi.

Cryptocoryne longicauda

The blackwater stream. The water is acidic, PH is around 5.6.

Leaf fish (Nandus nebulosus) is a predatory fish.

Mee Kiong is collecting Homalomena sp.

Ivy is collecting Crypt. longicauda.

I like this snake! I think its a mock viper. (Psammodynastes sp.)
